Why use fin?

Thank you for coming here to explore what we do at fin, it can be so easy to ignore the fact that we one day will die. As doulas we know first-hand that there can be a real difference in how we each experience death. If we can explore our mortality while we have time, while it can make a difference to the way we live, we can empower ourselves by making choices about our lives and our end of life care. By planning ahead we are more likely to experience a ‘good death’ which fits with our wishes and preferences.

NAVIGATING FIN

How you use fin will depend on your situation, here are some examples of why people may come to us:

  • Reduced or more manageable fear and anxiety of dying

  • Experiencing emotional well-being and feeling empowered, peaceful and connected to self

  • Clarity on decision making in life

  • Increased connections with others

  • Possible engagement or connection with religion or spirituality

  • When the time comes with pre-planning you are more likely to experience less pain and more comfortable end of life care

  • Having a sense of life completion or legacy when the time comes to die

  • Having informed choices regarding medical treatments in end of life care because they have been thought about and documented

  • Having preferences respected and followed including where and how you’d like to be cared for

  • Having privacy and dignity at end of life

  • Being cared for with respect
