Why use fin?
To explore or honour an ending of any kind
To create an Advance Plan
To explore grief
To address death anxiety
To document Wishes and Preferences for care before and after you die
To educate yourself and increase your death competency
To gently come to terms with the fact that one day we will all die
Thank you for coming here to explore what we do at fin, it can be so easy to ignore the fact that we one day will die. As doulas we know first-hand that there can be a real difference in how we each experience death. If we can explore our mortality while we have time, while it can make a difference to the way we live, we can empower ourselves by making choices about our lives and our end of life care. By planning ahead we are more likely to experience a ‘good death’ which fits with our wishes and preferences.
NAVIGATING FIN
How you use fin will depend on your situation, here are some examples of why people may come to us:
-
We recommend listening to our Clarity Visualisation which can help to reconnect with yourself and ground you in times of change. You could also join one of our grief circles where you can honour any ending in life. It does not have to be a physical death.
-
Our resources page is a great place to start as it provides links to a wide range of books, films, podcasts and websites related to the many facets of change, endings, death and dying you can explore at your own pace. If you want to connect with like-minded people, you could try one of our workshops which is a group setting and will give you an overview of the services we offer and why Advance Planning can be life affirming and empowering. If you feel that one-to-one support would suit you better, you can book a doula and they can work with you specifically tailoring to your needs.
-
We suggest you go ahead and use our DIY services for Advance Decisions Wishes and Preferences, or use our basics Bundle to get both done at a discounted price.
-
You could also try our Clarity Visualisation practice focused on awareness and clarity of thought.
If you want to start by looking at how you can practically document your wishes you could also download our ‘Wishes and Preferences’ PDF and have a read and start to think about what might be important to you at end of life.
-
We suggest booking one to one of our virtual Grief Circles which provide a safe space to explore, share, and honour your feelings. You can also book a doula to discuss this in more depth one-to-one.
-
We suggest using our 'Book a Doula' service. We do have a bundle at a discounted rate for both our Advance Decision to Refuse Treatment and Statement of Wishes and Preferences forms. Here you will be guided via zoom by one of our trained doulas and your forms will be checked by us to ensure they are legally binding and fit for use.
-
You can either use our DIY forms and fill them out with the person you are supporting or you can also book a doula and both attend the Zoom call together.
