Exploring Endings
Founded by End of Life Doulas*, fin provides a friendly space to explore death, dying, and grief, providing practical tools and guidance on how to explore these subjects and document end of life plans.
What is an end of life doula?
Also known as a death doula, an end of life doula is a companion who supports a person and those important to them through the dying process, much like a birth doula does with the birthing process. It is often a community-based role, aiming to help people cope with death by recognising it as a natural and important part of life. The role can range from offering practical, to emotional and spiritual support depending on the needs of the individual.
fin’s vision is to modernise and refresh the way we approach the subjects of death and dying and the way we carry out end of life planning. Though the recent global pandemic has brought death to the forefront of our minds, modern society has become increasingly more separated from death and dying. Our vision is to normalise conversations about death and make end of life planning something we all do to enhance our lives by embracing the fact that life is ‘fin’ite. This is where our name 'fin’ comes from.
Exploring this topic and having your wishes documented can make a huge difference to your experience at end of life and we encourage everyone at any stage of life to put these plans in place as none of us know when we may need them. In doing this work we hope to encourage a better connection with self, those around us and as a collective. Awareness is a powerful thing and being more aware of our mortality can bring gifts to our lives such as more presence, better decision making and clarity enabling us to live more fully and open heartedly.

“There are only two days with fewer than twenty-four hours in each lifetime, sitting like bookmarks astride our lives; one is celebrated every year, yet it is the other that makes us see living as precious.”
